Hello! I'm an Australian artist, fashion designer and illustrator currently residing in New Zealand. In my work I love to explore unusual colour combinations, detailed patterns and the surreal world of dreams. Since I completed my degree (Bachelor of Fine Arts - Fashion Design) in 2006, I have worked in an array of fields including fashion and textile design, graphic design, visual merchandising, illustration, fashion production, patternmaking and sourcing, e-commerce and marketing. I was co-founder and designer of ALAS, a sustainable, print-focused clothing label that was in operation from 2011-2018. I also worked for the Ken Done Gallery as a textile designer - re-imagining Done's paintings into repeat patterns. After relocating to NZ I have shifted my focus to freelance design and art licensing. With 15 years experience in textile and surface pattern design, I cover a broad range of styles and techniques in my portfolio. Many patterns originate from line drawings, paintings and even tie dye. From simple designs for screen printing, to detailed digital patterns, anything is possible. I look forward to discussing future creative projects with you! Betony x
